Tommy
Vickery
Tommy started playing
bass at age 13 after hearing the Beatles. High school band, Perpetual
Motion, opened for Percy Sledge, Chuck Jackson, and Wilson Pickett
at the Atlanta Auditorium.
In
Atlanta and Macon, backed up Gregg Allman, Ted Nugent, Arthur Conally
and the Drifters in the 70's. Recorded with Bobby Whitlock of Derrick
and the Dominoes, and members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section in Doraville,
Ga. Brendon O'Brien was the Engineer there.
Around
1980, toured the East Coast with a jazzrock band called Tall Dogs.
They were the band from which Paul McCartney drafted drummer Joe
English. Also, Tall Dogs featured drummer Jaimoe from the Allman
Bros. band. Traveled as far as Saudi Arabia and Alaska with the
Cody Marshall Band in the early 80's. Then played with Bertie Higgins
who had the hit song "Key Largo". Bertie had a couple
of other songs that went to #1 in Japan. The Japan tour was a lot
of fun.
Formed
Terry Lee and the G.T.'s with some friends in Atlanta in 1985 and
have been playing arond the southeast with the same 5 guys ever
since. The G.T.'s have backed up The Platters, Archie Bell, and
Little Anthony, and have done every kind of gig imaginable, like
opening for Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Shirelles, Dion and
the Belmonts, Davey Jones, Clarence Carter, The Impressions, The
Swingin' Medallions, and more.
Meanwhile,
recorded an album with Randall Bramlett for Capricorn. While playing
live with Randall, had the pleasure of working with Chuck Leavell,
keyboardist for the Rolling Stones.Randall and Chuck were both members
of Sea Level in the 70's.
Recently
have been doing recording with Francine Reed, the country group
Atlanta, who topped the charts in the 80's, The Ga. Blues Dogs,
on Leviathon Records and currently making a record with Macon Ga.
blues legend Johnny Jenkins.
